The 2021 Philadelphia Gay Pride will happen on September 4 at Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing. There is little information on Philadelphia Pride Presents’ website yet, but the organizers confirm the event. Traditionally happening in June, the LGBTQ+ Pride Month, the event was moved to September. Last year the Pride in Philadelphia had to be canceled because of the Pandemic.

Philadelphia Burbs

The local Pride Fest in New Hope, PA, will be back only in 2022. A note on the event’s website informs the Annual Pride Parade is scheduled for May 13 to 15th of 2021. It begins at 11:30 am, starting in Lambertville, NJ., and crossing the bridge to New Hope, Pa. Outfest, in Philly is another event canceled for 2021, back in October of 2022.

Stone Wall Riots in NYC

New York Gay Parade is one of the most important gay parades worldwide, and It’s just a couple of hours if you’re in Philly. The first NYC Pride happened one month after the Stonewall Riots in June 1969, which launched the Gay Rights Movement. On June 28, 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn, a local gay bar in Greenwich Village. After these violent attacks, around 500 people gathered to demonstrate the Gay Power in Washington Square Park a month later. A year after it, in 1970, the very first NYC Pride March took place on June 28.
