Why Wear a Speedo is Not a Gay Thing in Brazil?
A sunny warm beach day full of handsome guys in Speedo sounds like a gay movie, but it could be just a regular day on any Brazilian beach.
It could be a beach full of conservative men. It doesn’t matter. Speedo is socially accepted in Brazil and guys of all types wear it. While in the United States, we see guys in Speedo only in gay parades, in Brazil, it’s everywhere.
It doesn’t matter the shape of your body, the religion you follow, or if you’re gay or not. Being sexy is not the reason they have in mind wearing speedos. Almost every Brazilian man would rather wear it than regular shorts when entering the water. It’s only easier and more comfortable.
While in many countries speedos look exclusively for professional swimmers and folks in the gay community, Brazilian guys grow up taking it as the regular thing to wear on a beach. I completely understand how comfortable it could be for Americans or Canadians to have a family BBQ on a sunny day with all the men having fun in the swimming pool wearing their swim briefs. But in Brazil, there are parties like that all the time.
